Book in Common Events Inspired by ZEITOUN

Here are some Book in Common events this semester, leading up to the author visit by Dave Eggers on April 12.

February 11: A talk on catastrophe by Timothy Sistrunk, Lecturer in the Department of History.  Barnes & Noble, 3 p.m.  Free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be provided.

March 4: Red Cross Fundraiser at the Chico Women’s Club, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Enjoy a jambalaya cook-off and contest with extra fixings to make a nice lunch; live music; a Red Cross speaker at 12:30; an educational “Disaster Game” for children; and a raffle to win prizes, including a “go bag” with supplies to assist you in an emergency.  $5 suggested donation for adults; $2 for students and children over 8 years of age (8 & under are free).

March 26:  The College of Engineering Katrina Rebuild Photo Exhibit, 1-3 p.m., BMU 210.  Come take a look at the work CSU, Chico students of Engineering undertook following Hurricane Katrina’s devastating impact on New Orleans.  Free and open to the public; refreshments are provided.

April 1: An Interfaith Dialogue, co-sponsored by the Book in Common Program and Chico’s Interfaith Council, from 2-4 in the CSU, Chico Conference Center.  Come connect to other community members from varied faith backgrounds through a sequence of structured dialogues and informal sharing.  Free and open to the public; refreshments are provided.
